News on the Alumni Association

Our Alumni Association is kicking into high gear and has made very significant headway in the past few months. They have, among other things, established the initial volunteer leadership of the organization, nearly doubled the number of known SU Army ROTC alumni, initiated the charter agreement with the SU Alumni Relation Office, and completed the arrangements for the first annual ROTC Alumni Association reunion.

This Fall, an outstanding alum, role model, and officer, LTC (Ret) Vic Holman accepted the position of Vice President of the Alumni Association. You may recall that Vic was last Fall's Featured Alumni in the Alumni newsletter. As a result of the truly magnificent combined efforts of your Association's President, COL (Ret) Bob Lowell and Vic Holman, the Alumni Association is closer than ever to being officially recognized by Syracuse University.

We now have current addresses for almost 300 Stalwart Alumni! The key to the successful growth of the database has been information provided by our Alumni; they are providing lists of people who they recall from their graduating class and we are making every effort to track them down and incorporate them into this energized Association. In the future the Association hopes to have a representative from each class act as a liaison to help organize alumni reunion events.

Finally, our first annual alumni reunion is in the works. Currently, we have seven alumni attending and we hope to have more. All alumni are certainly invited and it would be my pleasure to meet all. The reunion is scheduled at the Genesee Grand Hotel for the night of March 31st, 2005, the day before our annual Chancellors Review on April 1st, 2005. All are also certainly asked to attend the Review in which our Army cadets, and those of the Air Force, receive prestigious national honors and awards in a Carrier Dome event hosted by the SU Chancellor, Nancy Cantor. Also at the Review, all are invited to witness the 2005 Army ROTC Alumni Hall of Fame inductions of very deserving alumni and to celebrate with them and the Stalwart Battalion.

We appreciate all the support we get from the alumni community. If you would like more information or want to get involved please email COL (Ret) Bob Lowell, at robert.p.lowell@usdoj.gov .
